How is my child's age category decided?
Categories are decided by birth year:
- Youth F: 7–8 years old · Born 2018–2019
- Youth E: 9–10 years old · Born 2016–2017
- Youth D: 11–12 years old · Born 2014–2015
- Youth C: 13–14 years old · Born 2012–2013
Children aged 5 or 6: They may also be accepted into Youth F, but the routes are designed with climbers up to age 8 and their height and reach in mind.
Can a younger child join Youth D Lead (11–12 years old)?
Yes, if they lead proficiently. This is a major step up: the routes are designed for 11–12-year-olds and will be much harder, with older and taller climbers' reach and ability in mind.
Can my child enter both September and November?
A younger proficient lead climber may enter their age-appropriate September category and Youth D Lead in November. The two entries are registered separately.
Can my child enter two categories on the same day?
No. On the same competition weekend, each climber may enter only one age category and one division.
Are boys and girls ranked together?
No. Boys and girls are ranked separately in every age category and division.
Does Lead require a certificate?
No formal certification is required, but the competitor must be able to lead climb and clip confidently and safely without assistance.
Can Youth C/D (11–14 years old) enter Top Rope and Lead?
No. They use the same qualification routes and are ranked as separate divisions, so each climber must choose only one.
Can I withdraw or get a refund?
No. Registration fees are strictly non-refundable and withdrawals are not available.
